Western Nevada College’s Child Development Center is all about nurturing children and offering a high-quality preschool experience. But every year, the center also shares its caring spirit with the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The sixth annual Trike-A-Thon for St. Jude’s at the center on March 20 provided plenty of smiles and displayed boundless energy concentrated in some 70 age 2 to six year-old drivers.

When they waved the proverbial checkered flag, the tots and their families raised more than $1,500 for the charity.

“We’ve done this for six years,” said Dr. Andrea Doran, the center’s director. “We get to work with so many wonderful and healthy children, but we also want to remember those who are not so healthy.”
