'Recycled Rides' Auto Body Class Offered for Non-Credit

Charitable Project Spawns New Class

The good will of Western Nevada College auto body students and instructors last fall has spawned a new non-credit class this spring that will repair vehicles to donate to financially strapped area residents.

Students in Introduction to Auto Collision Technology are restoring a vehicle that will be donated this spring through the college’s non-credit Continuing Education program.

Under the guidance of WNC auto body instructor Mark Leonard, students will restore a late-model vehicle that will become part of the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Rides program. Leonard is also the manager of a Reno Body Shop.

WNC initially partnered with Recycled Rides and Capital City Circles Initiative last fall to restore a Chevrolet Cobalt in automotive collision and automotive refinishing classes. The vehicle was presented to a local family just before Christmas.
