Filmmakers Invited to Submit Works

Western Nevada College is looking for student and independent filmmakers to submit their work for possible viewing at the upcoming Carson City International Film Festival. The event is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 5-7, 2015.

To be considered for the competition, filmmakers must submit an original video of up to 90 minutes in length and in DVD format to WNC by Monday, Dec. 1, 2014.

The film should illustrate global awareness and diversity, along with an understanding of social issues facing humanity. It must also include a significant degree of film craft.

Films may take many formats - narrative, documentary, live-action or animation. An entry fee of $25 ($10 for students) is required. Only one entry is permitted per person. Winning films will be screened at Western Nevada College as part of the Film Weekend. Monetary prizes will also be awarded.

Entry forms can be obtained by going to http://internationalfilmweekendcarsoncity.com.

Sponsored by WNC, the Carson City Public Library, and the Carson City Community Center, the Film Weekend will include free afternoon and evening film viewings followed by refreshments and informal discussions.

Afternoon screenings at WNC will spotlight the independently made films selected by the International Film Weekend Committee, while evening viewings at the Community Center will feature three international films, including: the New Zealand film Boy and the Basque film Obaba.
