Teams Back Up Doubleheaders to Saturday, Sunday

Wildcats-Spartans Doubleheader Postponed

The Scenic West Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader between Western Nevada College and Colorado Northwestern Community College was postponed on Friday in Rangely, Colo.

Consequently, the clubs will play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.

Spartans coach Lou McCollum said the Rangely area was hit by heavy rain showers on Thursday night.

“Our field was just saturated,” he said.

The teams met on Feb. 22 in a nonconference game in Henderson. The Wildcats came back to beat the Spartans 4-3 in dramatic fashion. Sam Hall hit a three-run double with two outs in the ninth inning to tie the score at 3 before Tony Roque’s walk-off single won it, 4-3.

WNC split last weekend’s SWAC series with Salt Lake and is 2-2 in conference play and 13-7 overall. Colorado Northwestern is 0-4 in the SWAC and 5-16 overall.

The Wildcats are 64-3 all time against Colorado Northwestern.

Saturday’s twin bill begins at noon PST, and Sunday’s doubleheader commences at 11 a.m.
