Wildcats Ranked 14th by NJCAA

The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Western Nevada College to its Top 20 preseason baseball poll.

WNC is ranked 14th in the poll, which was released on Monday. Earlier this year, the Wildcats were rated 16th by College Baseball Newspaper in its preseason poll.

The Wildcats were the only Scenic West Athletic Conference team voted into the poll. Last year’s NJCAA national champion, Central Alabama, earned top billing, with Connors State College of Warner, Okla., and Grayson College in Denison, Texas, second and third, respectively.

A year ago, the Wildcats were ranked 16th in the final NJCAA poll after winning the Region 18 title and advancing to the Western District championship game.

The Wildcats open the 2014 season Friday against South Mountain Community College in a 3 p.m. game in Phoenix.
