ASWN Provides Water Stations on Campus

WNC students and employees can help reduce their carbon footprint and work toward a sustainable environment by bringing and using a reusable water bottle on campus.

The Associated Students of Western Nevada have installed two Brita Hydration Station filtered water machines on the Carson City campus so users can refill their water bottles and eliminate the need for single-use plastic water bottles.

The water stations are located in the Bristlecone Building North lobby and in the Dini Student Center, near the Fitness Center.

According to Brita, more than 39 billion single-use water bottles were consumed in the United States in 2008. With one of the stations, the cost is less than 1 cent to refill a single water bottle, and use by more than 75 people can pay for a water station in about 10 months.
