NJCAA, Perfect Game Rank WNC 18th in Nation

Wildcats Drop in National Polls

After losing three of its last seven games, the Western Nevada College baseball team dropped out of the top 10 in two national polls.

In the Perfect Game top 50 poll released on April 10, the Wildcats (29-10 overall) slipped from ninth to 18th. Salt Lake, (27-5) which won two of three games from Wildcats during a March 30-31 series in Carson City, rose from 13th to 11th.

Orange Coast, Calif., (24-3) remained atop of the poll, with Iowa Western (30-1) and Walters State, Tenn., (34-5) second and third, respectively.

The Wildcats also fell to 18th in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll released on April 11. WNC had been ranked as high as seventh in the previous top-20 poll.

Salt Lake took the Wildcats’ place at No. 7 after being ranked 18th in the prior poll.

Iowa Western replaced Walters State in the No. 1 slot, while Central Alabama moved up to No. 2 and Louisburg College dropped to No. 3.
