Snow College Gets Edge in Nightcap

WNC’s Wildcats softball team scored first in what they hoped would be another home victory on Friday afternoon at Edmonds Sports Complex, but the Badgers snatched the nightcap 8-3 instead. Adding injury to insult, leadoff batter Jenny Quam was hit by a pitch late in the game and had to leave the game with assistance.

The Wildcats scored first in the bottom of the second inning off of a sacrifice infield fly by Lyzette Aguilar. Starting pitcher Ali Lostra set the stage with a leadoff double to left field, then Tori Crowell added a sacrifice bunt.

WNC scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning when Quam reached on an error and Melanie Pfeiffer sent her home on a base hit. Mikaela Henshaw scored in the third inning on an error to broaden the lead to 3-1.

The teams battled throughout the contest, but Snow turned the tables in the seventh inning, scoring four runs to take the lead, and did not look back. Jordan Garcia returned to the pitcher’s mound, facing 10 batters, but the Wildcats lost their momentum and took the loss.
