Student Athletes Make the Grades

Being a student-athlete at the college level is demanding and exciting. At Western Nevada College, members of the Wildcats baseball and softball teams have consistently worked just as hard to succeed in the classroom as on the field.

Spring grades have just been announced, and both teams collectively attained higher than a B average in the classroom. The Wildcats men's baseball team earned a 3.31 grade point average, while the women's softball team earned a 3.27 GPA. Comparatively, the student-athletes outperformed all other full-time students at the college.

Athletics Director/Dean of Student Services John Kinkella said he was pleased with the results. "Both teams continue to reinforce our college president's belief that student-athletes are students first. That was clearly demonstrated by this data."
