Free lecture October 22 at WNC Carson City

Author to Discuss Mental Illness & Families

An upcoming disability awareness event features a free lecture by Dr. Alan E. Fruzzetti, whose research focuses on the interplay between psychopathology and the interactions of couples and families.

The event is Thursday, Oct. 22, 3 p.m., in Marlette Hall, Cedar Building, at Western Nevada College Carson City campus.

Those whose lives are touched by Borderline Personality Disorder will appreciate his talk and his new book, "The High Conflict Couple," which is an easy-to-read guide to help partners manage their emotions. The author teaches couples how to manage problems through negotiation, and focuses on emotional reactivity, development of new emotional responses and learning effective communication skills.

It has been called an ideal book for people who are interested in building and maintaining positive, healthy relationships and who feel their emotions are out of control.
