Snow Colleges Takes Three of Four

Wildcats Win Final Game in Home Series

Slowly but surely, Western Nevada College's softball team is moving forward in its inaugural season, taking a victory here and there, and winning against teams that had only beaten them before.

Such was the case this weekend when Western lost three games at home to Snow College, but beat them in the final game of the series, 3-1. It was Western's first win against the Utah team, and was the first victory of the season for Ambar Huish, a Lowry High School graduate who pitched one game Friday and both games Saturday after pitcher Alyson Herman was injured. Western lost the other three games 11-7, 9-0 and 8-4.

Western is now 10-30, but the record did not diminish the enjoyment of victory on Saturday. "We were stoked to win the game," Coach Scott Rasner said. "Ambar pitched an excellent game and the team stepped up and played awesome defense behind her."

The softball season is winding down, with two series left to play. Western travels to College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas this weekend (April 17 and 18), and finishes the regular season at home against College of Southern Idaho on Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25 at Centennial Park in Carson City.

Scenic West Athletic Conference tournament play begins May 6 at a location to be determined.
