Fallon Art Students Show Work

Western Nevada College art students studying in a variety of media are exhibiting their individual portfolios over the next few weeks. Student artist Monica Fairbanks will show her portraits Monday-Friday, April 6-10, in the gallery at Virgil Getto Hall, WNC Fallon campus, 160 Campus Way.

Fairbanks paints those she knows - family and close friends, in hopes that "the viewer can see the life in their eyes that I see when I look at them." She said the lines and shadows of facial expressions interest her - "I see laughter or sadness in an expression and I want to recreate that. Many times I will feel elation over finding the expression I was seeking and other times I finish painting with a satisfied calmness that balances my inner mood."

Other student portfolio shows will include:
April 13-17: Hazel Halbert - ceramics
April 20-24: Melanie Black - painting
April 27-May 1: Derrick Morrin - photography
Student Megan Crossland exhibited her paintings March 30-April 3.
