WNC Struggles at Southern Idaho

The impact of a thin pitching staff and team injuries made for a tough weekend at the College of Southern Idaho. Western Nevada College's softball team struggled through four lopsided games in Twin Falls against No. 27 ranked CSI, falling 18-0 and 11-3 on Friday, March 6, and 25-1, 20-0 on Saturday, March 7.

Head Coach Scott Rasner said his team needs the bye it will get this weekend to get healthier and forget about the past. The first-year team has faced injuries, illness and a small pitching corps.

Rasner said his team needs to look ahead and try to "sneak up on" some of the teams at the top of the Scenic West Athletic Conference. The SWAC is a powerhouse softball conference, with three teams nationally ranked recently in the Top 30.

WNC will host No. 20 ranked Salt Lake Community College on March 20-21 in Carson City, at Centennial Park. Doubleheaders begin at 1 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday. Admission is free with a WNC ID card.
