Register Now for Summer Classes

Registration for Western Nevada College summer classes is in full swing, with the session start date looming. Classes begin Monday, June 9, and registration/payment must be completed by Friday, June 6.

Looking for a fun summer class in art, ballroom dance or video production? Or, earn credits toward a degree with a hands-on geology trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. Courses generally run from June 9 through August 2, though several classes meet for a shorter period. More than 85 courses are being offered at the college's three campuses and via the Internet.

English, history and math classes can be taken at the Carson City campus, and various subjects are offered at campuses in Fallon, Douglas County, Hawthorne, Lovelock and Yerington.

There are web-based classes in English, history and real estate, among others.

Western has many programs and classes than can lead to challenging, high-paying careers, and several summer classes can count toward a two or four-year degree. Students can earn a certificate, associate and bachelor's degree, or prepare for transfer to four-year schools. Students can also begin college as a high school student, with prior permission, and can use the summer after high school graduation to get a head start on college core courses.

Other summer class topics include American Sign Language, auto body, biology, ceramics, music, psychology, economics, physical education, political science, real estate, Spanish, and theater. The summer 2008 class schedule is updated regularly on the college web site.
