WNC Summer Schedule Offers Variety

Looking for a fun summer class in watercolor, ceramics or yoga? Or, try a hands-on geology trip to the Grand Tetons or the lava beds of Tulelake, Calif. Western Nevada College offers these and many more credit and non-credit classes in the upcoming summer term.

Registration begins Monday, April 7, for continuing students, and Wednesday, April 9, for new students. Courses generally run June 9 through August 2, though many classes meet for a shorter period. Nearly 100 courses are being offered at the college's three campuses and online.

Core classes in English, history and math will help students stay on top of degree requirements, and web-based classes in English, economics, humanities, computer technology and more offer convenience to busy people.

Many classes can lead to challenging, good-paying careers, and can count toward a two or four-year degree. Students can earn a certificate, associate and bachelor's degree, or prepare for transfer to four-year schools. Students can also begin college as a high school student, with prior permission, and can use the summer after high school graduation to get a head start on college core courses.

Other summer class topics include American Sign Language, automotive refinishing, business, self-defense, biology, music and political science. The summer 2008 class schedule is updated regularly on the college web site. For classes and information go to: www.wnc.edu.
