Artist Sidne Teske shows her large-scale paintings and pastels in the Virgil Getto Hall Gallery at Western Nevada College Fallon through Thursday, March 27. The Elko resident's pastel landscapes depict vibrant, energetic originality, and her figural works are abstract and thought provoking.

A reception for the artist is set for Thursday, March 27, 5-7 p.m. at the college gallery, 160 Campus Way. Teske will also offer a pastels workshop from 1-4 p.m. that day. Both events are free and open to students and the public.

Teske has received many awards, including an invitation by the Smithsonian Institution to participate in the Folklife Festival on the Capitol Mall in 2005. A poster she designed for the Bureau of Land Management and Nevada Rock Art Association won a national competition in 2003.

The artist maintains a full schedule of shows, is a part-time faculty member at Great Basin College in Elko, and teaches outdoor painting workshops around the country.

Teske's works are included in many private and corporate collections including Renown Medical Center in Reno, Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield and the Nevada Arts Council offices in Carson City.
