Students, Community Invited To Personal Safety Workshop

Tips for how to stay safe on college campuses and in our community will be the focus of a free "Personal Safety Workshop" at Western Nevada College this week. The session will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Sarah Winnemucca Hall on the Carson City campus. The goal is to teach students, faculty and the general public ways to avoid trouble and escape harm.

"We will have several public safety officers discuss safety strategies and recent events at various campuses. We'll cover what to do in an emergency, procedures in case of a campus intruder, and who to call," said Katie Leao, coordinator of Student Life.

Criminal Justice Professor Richard Finn will make a presentation on women's self defense.
