"Lunch and Learn" Event Set for February 14

WNC Fallon Offers Workforce Academy

Local employers who are seeking a more productive work force are invited to attend Western Nevada College's "Lunch and Learn" event at the Fallon campus on Thursday, Feb. 14, 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. at Pi˝on Hall.

"'Lunch and Learn' allows the college to introduce members of the community to new WNC programs and classes," Fallon Campus Dean Bus Scharmann said. "It will highlight 'Workforce Academy,' a monthly training program for new hires or potential employees who need to brush up on the basics of what is expected in a work environment." Cost for the lunch is $20.

The Workforce Academy's seven two-hour modules will cover work ethics and habits, interpersonal skills and teamwork, and expectations employers have for positive personal traits that encourage good work environment. Cost is only $15 per person for the entire course, thanks to grant funding from the state of Nevada, through Nevadaworks.

The academy will be taught monthly over three consecutive days at the college, beginning Tuesday-Thursday, Feb. 19-21. The training may also be customized and offered at a business location during a time that will minimize the impact on employee work schedules.

Rosana Halprine, course developer and primary trainer, will speak at the February 14 luncheon. Halprine holds a master's degree in human resource management and has extensive experience in curriculum development.

For reservations, contact Ginny Dugan at WNC Fallon - 423-5847.
