After finishing third in the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season, the 2006-2007 Wildcats battled their way to eight straight post-season victories to earn a berth in the NJCAA World Series. There, they won two straight games, including a victory over No. 1-ranked New Mexico Junior College, the 2005 NJCAA national champions.

The Wildcats ended the season 41-24-2. They took a 31-22-2 regular season record to post-season play in Twin Falls, Idaho, where they beat Colorado Northwestern Community College twice and College of Southern Idaho, who has played in nine World Series and won in 1984. Western advanced to the Region XVIII Championship in Henderson and knocked off No. 16 Community College of Southern Nevada, the 2003 NJCAA national champs.

WNCC then took three in Scottsbluff, Neb., two from Central Arizona College and one from Western Nebraska Community College, to advance to the World Series.
