WNCC Students Host Open Mic Night Tuesday

Want to try singing in front of an audience? Looking to hone your skills in front of a receptive group? Everyone is invited and anyone can participate in Western Nevada Community College's Open Mic Night on Tuesday, April 3, at the Joe Dini Student Center from 7-9:30 p.m. Sponsored by the WNCC United Students Association, the theme for this evening of fun is "freedom of speech."

"This is an unusual opportunity for college staff, students and the general public to enjoy a coffee house entertainment atmosphere along with free food and fun," said Richard Pfrenzinger, student government senator and event organizer. "There will be a free speech skit and others will sing, play an instrument, read poetry, tell stories, and do stand-up comedy. It will be a lot of fun."

Attendees will also enjoy complimentary sandwiches, snacks and drinks, and entertainment provided by the contestants. No reservations are necessary and all ages are welcome. "People can join in by volunteering to perform or just talk about something that's on their mind within reasonable moral and legitimate boundaries," Pfrenzinger added. "Nobody has ever been booed off the stage."

Admission is free and seating is limited.
