Psychologist to Discuss Mental Health on Campus

Attending college can be a challenging and stressful time for some students. In many cases, they are away from home for the first time and on their own to face the academic rigors of college life. Dr. Erin Oksol, a clinical psychologist, will explore mental health on the college campus in a free lecture at Western Nevada Community College's Marlette Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 7-9 p.m.

"Mental Health on the College Campus: Challenges and Opportunities" will focus on common mental health challenges college students face and current treatment approaches. The lecture is presented by the WNCC United Students Association, and includes a hosted informal dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m. for everyone who attends.

Oksol earned her master's degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she specialized in behavior therapy for anxiety disorders. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she works in the Student Health Center.

Students and community residents are invited to attend. Info: 775-445-3324.
