Wildcats Soccer Team Wins on the Road

The Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team (5-5-2) saw themselves fall behind early but finished strong with four unanswered goals in a 4-1 victory over Butte College Tuesday in Oroville, Calif.

With Butte leading 1-0 ten minutes into the game, WNCC caught fire scoring two goals in the next seven minutes. Hannah Lee kicked in the first one on an assist from Courtney Lenhart. Lenhart then continued her all-around play with another goal to make it 2-1 at halftime.

"Butte's first goal was a wakeup call for us," said Head Coach Hillary Arthur. "It really made us recognize that we can be beat on any given day if we don't play our game."

In the second half, Western's defense took charge and held Butte scoreless. WNCC's offense also came alive with Savannah Gray and Jessica Maule adding goals.

The Wildcats had ten shots on goal in the contest, compared to three for Butte. The Wildcats were missing two key components as Christina Bradshaw and Dominique Gloude did not play in the contest due to injuries.

The Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways in a key conference match-up against North Idaho College at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Edmonds Sports Complex. Admission is free.
