"Faces, Voices & Stories"

See How They Lived

The third performance of the free cultural series, "Faces, Voices & Stories," was recently held at Western Nevada Community College. "Oh, How They Lived" offered an intriguing story about the Negro Baseball Leagues of the early 1900s, narrated by Byron Motley.

Motley combined his talents as a performer with his skills as a storyteller, delivering a lecture and performance that was historical, educational and entertaining. This documentary educated the audience about the significant contributions Negro League players made in the 20th century.

The presentation, sponsored by the college's Student Activities office and United Students Association, was further enhanced by a personal connection Byron has to the Negro Leagues; his father umpired in the historic leagues for several years.
