WNCC Multicultural Festival Features Music, Dance, Food and Art

The whole family can enjoy a world of dancing, food and exhibits at Western Nevada Community College's tenth annual Multicultural Festival on Saturday, May 14, at the Carson City campus, 2201 West College Parkway. Admission is free to the festival, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Multicultural entertainment includes dancing from around the world, including country western line dancing, belly dancing, traditional Aztec dancing and more. The Reno Taiko Drummers will perform their always popular traditional Japanese drumming and the Sierra Highlanders will play bagpipes. Twenty exhibitors offer unique gift items from around the world, arts and crafts, and cultural information.

The Children's Culture Corner returns to the multicultural Festival. Students from WNCC's Early Childhood Development diversity class will present hands-on activities for young children, including ribbon-braiding and Irish folk dancing. The WNCC United Students Association paints faces for kids.
