Kick Your Heels at WNCC Rodeo Fundraising Dance and Auction

Cowboy up and kick your heels at a fun-filled barbecue and dance to benefit the Western Nevada Community College intercollegiate rodeo team. The fourth annual rodeo team dinner, dance and auction is set for Friday, March 18, at the Fallon Convention Center, 100 Campus Way in Fallon. The event is sponsored by the WNCC Rodeo Team Advisory Committee to raise funds essential for the non-state funded college team.

Western's rodeo team participates in the West Coast Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. The NIRA is divided into 11 regions and has more than 135 member colleges and universities. Teams compete in about ten rodeos a year and all are trying to earn a trip to the College National Finals Rodeo, the "Rose Bowl" of college rodeo. There, more than 350 cowboys and cowgirls compete for national titles and more than $200,000 in scholarships. Tye Fitzpatrick is the coach of the team, which is based at the Fallon campus, but open to all interested and eligible WNCC students.

A no host bar opens at 6 p.m. and the barbecue dinner begins at 7 p.m. There will be both a silent auction and a live auction after dinner. Door prizes include a Symphonic 20-inch flat screen TV donated by Sue Chambers, the chair for the event. Jeff Marshall's Top Gun Entertainment will provide the music for dancing.

Tickets are $25 per person. Call Ginny Dugan or Kathy McGee for more information or to purchase tickets.
