WNCC Adds College Math at Carson, Fallon and Lovelock

Western Nevada Community College is offering another opportunity for students in Fallon, Carson City and Lovelock to take Fundamentals of College Mathematics. Due to demand, new sections of MATH 120 have been added to the Spring Express late start schedule. The three-credit class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 15-May 19, 7-8:35 p.m. Professor Jim Strange teaches the class in Fallon, and it is sent by interactive video to Carson City and Lovelock. High school students can take the class with the permission of their principals. Fundamentals of College Mathematics is required for a four-year degree at Nevada universities and is a prerequisite for Chemistry 121, a required class for WNCC's associate nursing degree program. The class covers real numbers, consumer mathematics, variation, functions, relations and graphs; geometry or measurement, probability and statistics, sets and logic. The course is broad in scope, emphasizing applications.
